The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Flamengo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilberto de Souza to maneuver through the defense. In the 4th minute of the match José Augusto Guedes sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ionică Cantemir skillfully saved the ball. A collision led to Flamengo getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Gilberto de Souza hit a great ball. The supporters of Flamengo booed when Warnow FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reginaldo da Rocha didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 7 played minutes, Flamengo's Emerson Corrêa shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Edvaldo Faria came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Flamengo reached it. Fabrício Sá hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 20th minute of the match, Emerson Corrêa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Edvaldo Faria saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Ademir Gomess short, quick shot in the 23rdth minute got Edvaldo Faria to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With an all-out effort, Flamengo's Edvaldo Faria threw himself towards the right post 27 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Emerson Corrêa, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 29thth minute of the game Emerson Corrêa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Warnow FC's Edvaldo Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Edvaldo Faria showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emerson Corrêa in the 31st minute of the match. In the 33rd minute Emerson Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvaldo Faria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ademir Gomes got free with Edvaldo Faria in the 34th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Edvaldo Faria stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Emerson Corrêa's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. In the 37th minute, Emerson Corrêa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Warnow FC getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Geraldo Mota hit a great ball. Fabrício Sá took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Edvaldo Faria. Warnow FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 40 minutes into the match, Warnow FC's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson Corrêa came free, but Edvaldo Faria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edvaldo Faria stood somewhat misplaced when Emerson Corrêa came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 44 minute. After 47 played minutes Warnow FC got a freekick which was hit by Reginaldo da Rocha. 48 minutes into the match, Flamengo's Emerson Corrêa broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Geovânio do Nascimento stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Warnow FC's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson Corrêa came free, but Edvaldo Faria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute Dudu Corrêa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvaldo Faria saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match clock showed 56 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Ademir Gomes sped through Warnow FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edvaldo Faria. Edvaldo Faria came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Flamengo's Emerson Corrêa. But to his dismay, Emerson Corrêa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. 62 minutes into the match, Ademir Gomes notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Warnow FC's Edvaldo Faria. Edvaldo Faria was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Emerson Corrêa in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edvaldo Faria prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Gilberto de Souza came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Flamengo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gilberto de Souza couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emerson Corrêa in the 70th minute of play forced Warnow FC's goalkeeper Edvaldo Faria to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute, Emerson Corrêa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Flamengo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. After 80 played minutes Warnow FC got a freekick which was hit by Ediberto Reis. Edvaldo Faria didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Emerson Corrêa went, in the 81st minute, to the upper right corner, 6-0 was the resulting score. 84 minutes into the match, Warnow FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ademir Gomes came free, but Edvaldo Faria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edvaldo Faria took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emerson Corrêa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Dudu Corrêa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Edvaldo Faria was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. After 88 played minutes Warnow FC got a freekick which was hit by Durvalino Linhares. In the 90thth minute of the game Emerson Corrêa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Warnow FC's Edvaldo Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 92 minutes into the match, Warnow FC's goal looked a bit too open when Emerson Corrêa came free, but Edvaldo Faria reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 94th minute, Emerson Corrêa made a precise shot to the right of Edvaldo Faria. Warnow FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 7-0. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Flamengo had played much better football throughout.
