Rodriguinho Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When the match had been going on for 11 minutes, Belmonte's Gláuber de Lara got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Dorival Vale. Dorival Vale made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Jânio da Mata sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Santos F C's zone, Jânio da Mata stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dorival Vale came out of the goal and Jânio da Mata tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dorival Vale made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Jânio da Mata sent off a good shot on target. Rodriguinho Coelho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 32nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Santos F C getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Osvaldinho Maranhense hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Santos in the 35th minute of play forced Santos F C's goalkeeper Dorival Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Belmonte's Gláuber de Lara got a free kick in the 40th minute. Dorival Vale was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ernesto Santos showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-0 in the 49 minute of play.

Dorival Vale showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jânio da Mata in the 59th minute of the match. Luiz Gustavo Neves stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guga Veiga's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. The audience was convinced that Guga Veiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luiz Gustavo Neves was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Luiz Gustavo Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guga Veiga in the 76th minute of play. Guga Veiga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dorival Vale showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hamílton Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. After 95 played minutes Belmonte got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Ramalho. Guga Veiga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luiz Gustavo Neves having to interfere. Victor Meireles kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. In the 99th minute Guga Veiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Gustavo Neves saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Santos F C players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Belmonte.
