Melado AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mauro Lopez was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 13th match minute, Piratiny SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovânio Godoi to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mauro Lopez in the 35th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Valdomiro Paraense saved Melado AD from getting behind. In the 37th minute Juvenal Brasil shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdomiro Paraense saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Melado AD defense, Mauro Lopez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Valdomiro Paraense. The Melado AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Valdomiro Paraense should have stopped the shot. Geovânio Godoi hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mauro Lopez in the 47th minute of play forced Melado AD's goalkeeper Valdomiro Paraense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mauro Lopez was the one to do the kick off. Valdomiro Paraense made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Mauro Lopez sent off a good shot on target. Valdomiro Paraense didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Juvenal Brasil went, in the 54th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. Mauro Lopez recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Piratiny SC getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Mauro Lopez hit a great ball. Piratiny SC's Roberto Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Emerson Pimenta in the 64th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Mauro Lopez got free with Valdomiro Paraense in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 67 minutes of play, Melado AD's Hélio Melo made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Roberto Lago was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mauro Lopez's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Valdomiro Paraense firmly grabbed it by the left post. Mauro Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdomiro Paraense having to interfere. In the 74th minute, Wellington Medeiros got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Emerson Pimenta took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Roberto Lago. Roberto Lago dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by André Luiz Loyola during the 85th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Piratiny SC's Roberto Lago played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Cardoso in the 86th minute of play. In the 87th match minute, Piratiny SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juvenal Brasil to maneuver through the defense. Mauro Lopez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edgard de Queiroz during the 92nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 94 minutes had been played when some careless play by Melado AD's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. André Luiz Loyola was slow to take the kick. During this time Piratiny SC's players had a chance to rest. Piratiny SC's Mauro Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Piratiny SC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
