One of Palmeiras:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of CHUTE NO SACO F.C.:s goal. In the 73rd of the match, Sidnei Moraes tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Cafu Ribeiro got in the way and made a wonderful save. Palmeiras's Cafu Ribeiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sidnei Moraes in the 84th minute of play. Rogério Lopez struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Maurício Reis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palmeiras. 93 minutes in the game, Nildo Carvalho fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Cafu Ribeiro having to interfere. In the 94th minute the ball was on its way in behind Palmeiras's goalkeeper Cafu Ribeiro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After having played for 97 minutes, Betinho Valladares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palmeiras's supporters crossed their fingers, but Betinho Valladares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
