The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After having played for 10 minutes, Raí da Mata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The referee felt a red card was in order, 17 minutes into the game, when Ciro Prestes put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Salchibegows FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 16th minute. Penalty! José Paulo Gonçalves had in the 19thth minute some difficulties stopping Ernani Almeida's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. A collision led to Interiorano Só Futebol getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Ernani Almeida hit a great ball. José Vítor Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Walmir Mangueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 31 played minutes Salchibegows FC got a freekick which was hit by Clemente Magalhães. In the 33rd minute, Claudinei Souto got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. José Vítor Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Walmir Mangueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cléber Cosme might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Walmir Mangueira. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Raí da Mata was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 42nd minute. Interiorano Só Futebol's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Raí da Mata could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 48th minute of the match, but José Paulo Gonçalves made a huge save. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Claudinei Souto made the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Ramiro Ferreira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Walmir Mangueira. Interiorano Só Futebol's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ramiro Ferreira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Salchibegows FC's Sidnei Senna got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 56th minute, Claudinei Souto left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Interiorano Só Futebol fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. José Paulo Gonçalves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Souto in the 60th minute of play. José Vítor Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Walmir Mangueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. José Carlos Paranaense hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Salchibegows FC players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
