Patrick de Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zé Carlos Valadares having to interfere. 28 minutes into the game, Desengano's Cristóvão Netto nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Desengano's Vitinho Paraíba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Natanael Marinho in the 32nd minute of play. Patrick de Amorim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Zé Carlos Valadares tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 48th minute of the match Desengano got a corner. Muleque de Vila's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leopoldo Maranhense ran over to the corner to take the kick.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Natanael Marinho made a kick off. Natanael Marinho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vitinho Paraíba read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. After having played for 58 minutes, Patrick de Amorim managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Desengano's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patrick de Amorim was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcus Correia might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zé Carlos Valadares. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Marcus Correia ran back to his position shaking his head. Patrick de Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Vitinho Paraíba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilton Trigo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
