After a defensive mix-up in Foz FC's zone, Noel Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claudinei Silveira came out of the goal and Noel Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 21st minute Noel Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Claudinei Silveira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 25 minutes into the match, Foz FC's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Montenegro came free, but Claudinei Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 26 minutes, Natanael Secco managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FLA-RJ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Natanael Secco was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Wiliam Urbano during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. If Natanael Secco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 31 minutes into the match, Foz FC's goal looked a bit too open when Noel Montenegro came free, but Claudinei Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 37 minutes into the match, Foz FC's goal looked a bit too open when Clóvis Breckenfeld came free, but Claudinei Silveira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Noel Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Claudinei Silveira read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Pedro Paulo Mesquita came out of the goal in the 51st minute to try and stop a shot by Foz FC's Cido Paranaense. But to his dismay, Cido Paranaense quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Clóvis Goiano's late challenge caught a FLA-RJ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Clóvis Goiano helped the player get up and apologised. In the 54th minute, Clóvis Goiano hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the match, Foz FC's goalkeeper Claudinei Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Noel Montenegro. If Renatinho Damião had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pedro Paulo Mesquita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Renatinho Damião in the 67th minute of the match. Thiago Quintal kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. FLA-RJ's Pedro Paulo Mesquita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Paulo Andrade in the 69th minute of play. Natanael Secco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Claudinei Silveira having to interfere. Claudinei Silveira acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 73rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Jeremias Favoretto. After 75 played minutes Foz FC got a freekick which was hit by Clóvis Goiano. Cido Paranaense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Pedro Paulo Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Renatinho Damião received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute.
