The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Roger Vianna dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Guto Meira, 1-0. Alfredão Netto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18thth minute of the game Diego Godoi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AC Catania's Gilson Paraíba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gilson Paraíba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Godoi in the 21st minute of play. With his leg Guto Meira managed to avoid a goal in the 23rdth minute, when AC Catania's Roger Vianna fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Alfredão Netto managed to get in a good position for a shot. AC Catania's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfredão Netto was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Guto Meira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When Sérgio Aguiar came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the So Canela fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sérgio Aguiar couldn't finish the play. Diego Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilson Paraíba having to interfere.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diego Godoi made a kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Sérgio Aguiar kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilson Paraíba. That made the score 1-1 in the 51 minute of play. Alfredão Netto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guto Meira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredão Netto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind AC Catania's goalkeeper Gilson Paraíba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 69 minutes into the match, Diego Godoi dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gilson Paraíba, 1-2. When the match had gone on for 76 minutes, Sérgio Aguiar put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Gilson Paraíba. If Diego Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luiz Gustavo Cardozo kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Vianna in the 91st minute of play forced So Canela's goalkeeper Guto Meira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alfredão Netto had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Guto Meira didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alfredão Netto went, in the 95th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-3 was the resulting score. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. So Canela had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
