Luizinho Paulista was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 15thth minute of the game Ronaldão Rossi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Manguaba's Luizinho Paulista was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Sandrinho Paranaense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Teles having to interfere. 28 minutes into the game, Horizontina's Didi Pereira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luizinho Paulista prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Horizontina were awarded a corner in the 42th minute after Manguaba's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Vitinho Falcão took the corner. After 44 played minutes Manguaba got a freekick which was hit by Aloísio Lima. Didi Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Luizinho Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

Ronaldão Rossi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Didi Pereira could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 60th minute of the match, but Luizinho Paulista made a huge save. The supporters of Manguaba booed when Horizontina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Didi Pereira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Horizontina's Noel Barreto got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luizinho Paulista made an important save on a dangerous shot by Didi Pereira in the 70th minute. 72 minutes had been played when some careless play by Manguaba's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Vitinho Falcão was slow to take the kick. During this time Horizontina's players had a chance to rest. Through an outstanding action, after 74 minutes, Luizinho Paulista successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Didi Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 77 minutes into the match, Ronaldão Rossi notched a goal, 0-6, to the right of Manguaba's Luizinho Paulista. Luizinho Paulista was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Ronaldão Rossi's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Luizinho Paulista read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Manguaba's defense didn't have a chance, in the 81st minute, when Ronaldão Rossi scored to the left of an out of position Luizinho Paulista, making the score, 0-7. After 86 minutes, Geraldo da Silva mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Horizontina and the Manguaba players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Horizontina's Noel Barreto got a free kick in the 89th minute. If Didi Pereira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Horizontina eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
