After a defensive mix-up in Horizontina's zone, Sandro Lira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Roger Teles came out of the goal and Sandro Lira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Didi Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Chiquinho Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pedrão Leal's late challenge caught a Ingleses do Rio vermelho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedrão Leal helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Horizontina getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Pedrão Leal hit a great ball. Didi Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Chiquinho Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, Ingleses do Rio vermelho's goalkeeper Chiquinho Mendes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Didi Pereira. Ingleses do Rio vermelho's Chiquinho Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ronaldão Rossi in the 32nd minute of play. Ronaldão Rossi might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Chiquinho Mendes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ronaldão Rossi ran back to his position shaking his head. Ronaldão Rossi blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chiquinho Mendes having to make a save. In the 35th minute, Ronaldão Rossi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Chiquinho Mendes was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Didi Pereira was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 42nd minute. Horizontina's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Leonardo Branco hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Erivaldo Favoretto took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 45th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Roger Teles. Horizontina's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Sandro Lira made the kick off in the second half. Horizontina's Ronaldão Rossi got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Chiquinho Mendes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Didi Pereira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 54 minutes, Ronaldão Rossi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horizontina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Rossi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 68 minutes, Ronaldão Rossi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horizontina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Rossi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 79th minute of the match Erivaldo Favoretto sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Roger Teles skillfully saved the ball. Ronaldão Rossi took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Chiquinho Mendes. Chiquinho Mendes dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. After having played for 84 minutes, Ronaldão Rossi managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Horizontina's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ronaldão Rossi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 85 minutes of play, Horizontina's Didi Pereira made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Chiquinho Mendes was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ronaldão Rossi in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Chiquinho Mendes saved Ingleses do Rio vermelho from getting behind. Didi Pereira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Chiquinho Mendes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. There was no doubt that Horizontina were the better team. Horizontina's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
