The referee ignored América-RS's protests and gave Alex Mendes a yellow card for diving instead. Prados SS's Carlos Barreto was substituted for Téo Costa. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joaquim Tinoco to strike the kick off in the second half. América-RS's Fábio Paraíba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgard Varela in the 52nd minute of play. Dadá Figueiredo's late challenge caught a América-RS's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Túlio Vaz came out of the goal and Alex Mendes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 79th minute Edgard Varela shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fábio Paraíba saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fábio Paraíba took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mazinho Paraense, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Joaquim Tinoco struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Fábio Paraíba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Prados SS. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joaquim Tinoco in the 92nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Fábio Paraíba saved América-RS from getting behind. In the 94th minute, Edgard Varela made a precise shot to the right of Fábio Paraíba. América-RS's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. There was no doubt that Prados SS were the better team. Prados SS's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
