Spectators: 7295 (Terracing: 5473, Seating: 1677, VIP seats: 145) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Celso Pinho started the match with the kick off. Charles Neto hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Alex Mendes managed to get in a good position for a shot. América-RS's supporters rose to their feet, but Alex Mendes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexsandro Massa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Zé Carlos Leão kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Alexsandro Massa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Paes in the 15th minute of the match. Nilson Bertassi struck a weak shot in the 19th minute. Fábio Paraíba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marinopolis. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Mendes in the 26th minute of play forced Marinopolis's goalkeeper Alexsandro Massa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alex Mendes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Arnaldo Borges fell near the penalty area in the 32nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Marinopolis's protests and gave Arnaldo Borges a yellow card for diving instead. After 31 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Marinopolis! Marinopolis:s Alexsandro Massa showed great skill when he stopped Gilmar Mesquita:s penalty. 34 minutes into the game, Gilmar Mesquita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Alexsandro Massa was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 38 minutes, Eliseu Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Marinopolis's supporters crossed their fingers, but Eliseu Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind América-RS's goalkeeper Fábio Paraíba, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogério Siqueira got free with Fábio Paraíba in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Júlio Romero charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Júlio Romero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes, Marinopolis's Arnaldo Borges shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Fábio Paraíba came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Marinopolis reached it. In the 45th minute, Rogério Siqueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rogério Siqueira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nilson Bertassi made a kick off. In the 53rdth minute of the game Nilson Bertassi who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but América-RS's Fábio Paraíba was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Eliseu Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rogério Siqueira struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Fábio Paraíba didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Marinopolis. After a rather tough play, América-RS's Eliézer Breckenfeld got a free kick in the 63rd minute. After some careless play in the América-RS defense, Eliseu Sampaio kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fábio Paraíba. The América-RS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fábio Paraíba should have stopped the shot. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nilson Bertassi in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fábio Paraíba prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 73 minutes into the game, Marinopolis's Rogério Siqueira nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fábio Paraíba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Celso Pinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 76th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eliseu Sampaio hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. In the 81st minute Celso Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexsandro Massa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In a very dangerous position, a player in Marinopolis fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 85th minute. Penalty! Eliseu Sampaio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Charles Neto during the 95th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Marinopolis getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Charles Neto hit a great ball.
