Mirassol FC's Márcio da Mata got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If João Augusto Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alfredão de Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio da Mata in the 25th minute of play. In the 30th match minute, Mirassol FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Moisés Ceresso to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Mirassol FC's Geraldo Gaspar got a free kick in the 39th minute. João Augusto Lara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Mirassol FC's zone, Doni Urbano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Guga Vander was the one to do the kick off. Geraldo Gaspar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Alfredão de Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Expressinho-ES F.C getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Bernardinho Lira hit a great ball. Alfredão de Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Márcio da Mata in the 58th minute of play. André Luiz Tavares hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Luís Eduardo de Carvalho, 67 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. After having played for 69 minutes, Guga Vander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Expressinho-ES F.C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guga Vander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Alfredão de Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Márcio da Mata in the 74th minute of the match. In the 75th minute of the match Mirassol FC got a corner. Expressinho-ES F.C's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luís Eduardo de Carvalho ran over to the corner to take the kick. João Augusto Lara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Alfredão de Queiroz made a huge save. 83 minutes into the game, Márcio da Mata was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mirassol FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Expressinho-ES F.C the free kick.
