Benicio Hustaz started the match with the kick off. 3 minutes into the match, Jorge Dante notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Grêmio's Conrado Figueiredo. Conrado Figueiredo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wágner Matos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Paulo José Berger having to make a save. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Wágner Matos managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grêmio's supporters rose to their feet, but Wágner Matos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Paulo José Berger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 16 played minutes Grêmio got a freekick which was hit by Wágner Matos. Grêmio's Conrado Figueiredo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jorge Dante in the 18th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfredo Proença in the 19th minute of play forced Grêmio's goalkeeper Conrado Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Conrado Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juvenal Barros in the 20th minute of play. Nestor Ortiz kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Wesley Pinheiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Conrado Figueiredo. Grêmio's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jorge Dante took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Conrado Figueiredo. Conrado Figueiredo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 28 minutes into the match, Grêmio's goal looked a bit too open when Jorge Dante came free, but Conrado Figueiredo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The referee felt a red card was in order, 48 minutes into the game, when Rony Saldanha put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Grêmio fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 47th minute. Penalty! After 51 minutes Grêmio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Wesley Pinheiro who took care of the corner kick. After the first half Malagutti Uai Soccer were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Juvenal Barros made the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute, Samuel de Amaral got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Malagutti Uai Soccer booed when Grêmio was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Percival de Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. Conrado Figueiredo made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Samuel de Amaral sent off a good shot on target. Wágner Matos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Malagutti Uai Soccer's Samuel de Amaral got a free kick in the 68th minute. Conrado Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juvenal Barros in the 71st minute of play. Wágner Matos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Paulo José Berger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wágner Matos in the 77th minute of play. Conrado Figueiredo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jorge Dante in the 79th minute of play. In the 82nd minute, Grêmio's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Juvenal Barros fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 85th match minute, Grêmio was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival de Barros to maneuver through the defense. Samuel de Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
