After 11 played minutes Fenerbatman got a freekick which was hit by Adilson Pena. 20 minutes into the match, Fenerbatman's goal looked a bit too open when Benicio Hustaz came free, but Flávio Vaz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Conrado Figueiredo made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Luiz Fábio Quintal sent off a good shot on target. Flávio Vaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If José Carlos Alcântara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 37th minute, Luiz Fábio Quintal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fenerbatman's Luiz Fábio Quintal got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adilson Pena in the 42nd minute of play forced Grêmio's goalkeeper Conrado Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. José Carlos Alcântara received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Conrado Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Flávio Vaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wágner Matos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Benicio Hustaz made a kick off. Fenerbatman's Flávio Vaz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save Fenerbatman from getting a goal against them. Luiz Fábio Quintal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Conrado Figueiredo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 58 minutes into the game, Fenerbatman's Luiz Fábio Quintal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Conrado Figueiredo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Benicio Hustaz in the 65th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flávio Vaz saved Fenerbatman from getting behind. Grêmio's Linus Stålman got a good chance for a goal in the 68th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Carlos Alcântara in the 70th minute of play forced Grêmio's goalkeeper Conrado Figueiredo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 73 minutes into the match, Fenerbatman's goalkeeper Flávio Vaz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Benicio Hustaz. A collision led to Fenerbatman getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Rony Perez hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Linus Stålman got free with Flávio Vaz in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 83 minutes into the match, José Carlos Alcântara notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Grêmio's Conrado Figueiredo. Conrado Figueiredo was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Grêmio's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
