Álvaro das Neves showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Fernando Motta in the 3rd minute of the match. Álvaro das Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Rossi in the 17th minute of play. Carlos Fernando Motta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 21st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Álvaro das Neves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Fernando Motta, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raphael Negri in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Álvaro das Neves saved SE Palmeiras from getting behind. When Raphael Negri came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Ibuaco fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Raphael Negri couldn't finish the play. Ibuaco's Carlos Fernando Motta got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Raphael Negri managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ibuaco's supporters rose to their feet, but Raphael Negri was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Álvaro das Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to SE Palmeiras getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Tadeu Bittencourt hit a great ball. Ibuaco's Falcão de Toledo couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 38th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for SE Palmeiras. After 40 played minutes Ibuaco got a freekick which was hit by Marcelo Lucas. In the 42nd minute of the match Arthur de Toledo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Juninho Tróia skillfully saved the ball. Álvaro das Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raphael Negri in the 45th minute of play. Ronaldinho Rodrigues received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Juninho Tróia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ronaldinho Rodrigues to make the kick off. A collision led to Ibuaco getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Júlio de Alcântara hit a great ball. Ibuaco's Juninho Tróia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amadeu Rosado in the 58th minute of play. Juninho Tróia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amadeu Rosado in the 60th minute of the match. 61 minutes into the match, Ronaldinho Rodrigues had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juninho Tróia. Ibuaco's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ronaldinho Rodrigues was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Marcelo Lucas hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Carlos Fernando Motta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Álvaro das Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Raphael Negri got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ibuaco's Carlos Fernando Motta got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Raphael Negri could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 96th minute of the match, but Álvaro das Neves made a huge save.
