Bogdan Lobonț came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by Irece's Hugo Salgado. But to his dismay, Hugo Salgado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. Bogdan Lobonț made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Hugo Salgado sent off a good shot on target. 31 minutes into the match, Newcastle's goal looked a bit too open when Tony Brito came free, but Bogdan Lobonț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hugo Salgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, Newcastle's Bogdan Lobonț got control of the ball when Hugo Salgado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Bogdan Lobonț took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Perivaldo de Souza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With 40 minutes on the clock, Samuel Furlan commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 44th play minute Hugo Salgado came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Bogdan Lobonț. 4-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tony Brito stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the game, Perivaldo de Souza cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Bogdan Lobonț was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 56 minutes into the match, Newcastle's goal looked a bit too open when Hugo Salgado came free, but Bogdan Lobonț reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 57th minute, Perivaldo de Souza left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Irece fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 6-0. Edmundo Custódio kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Hugo Salgado ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bogdan Lobonț was frozen by the shot and now it was 7-0. Hugo Salgado hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. Bogdan Lobonț came out of the goal in the 68th minute to try and stop a shot by Irece's Cícero Batista. But to his dismay, Cícero Batista quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 8-0. A collision led to Irece getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Maurício Romero hit a great ball. Bogdan Lobonț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Perivaldo de Souza in the 74th minute of play. In a very dangerous position, a player in Irece fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 77th minute. Penalty! In the 79th minute there was a penalty for Newcastle. Zé Pedro Nóbrega stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Caetano Queiroz. 8-1. In the 83rd minute Hugo Salgado shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bogdan Lobonț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
