Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Luisinho Corrêa in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Josué Teixeira prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luiz Fernando Diniz struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Nicolas Nascimento didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pombal FC. If Remo Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 20 minutes, Luisinho Corrêa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. E. C. Fernandes's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luisinho Corrêa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Remo Garcia in the 24th minute of play forced E. C. Fernandes's goalkeeper Nicolas Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nicolas Nascimento took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Remo Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Remo Garcia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 42 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Luiz Fernando Diniz sped through E. C. Fernandes's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nicolas Nascimento. Nicolas Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agostinho Ortiz in the 46th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Luiz Fernando Diniz made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute, Agostinho Ortiz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Luisinho Corrêa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Remo Garcia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nicolas Nascimento having to interfere. Luiz Fernando Diniz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 69th play minute Remo Garcia came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nicolas Nascimento. 0-2. After 73rd play minutes João Adolfo Tepedino shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Nicolas Nascimento and just under the crossbar into goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luiz Fernando Diniz in the 82nd minute of play forced E. C. Fernandes's goalkeeper Nicolas Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Tales Domingues's late challenge caught a Pombal FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tales Domingues helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, E. C. Fernandes's Tales Domingues got a free kick in the 84th minute. A collision led to Pombal FC getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. João Paulo Borges hit a great ball. 91 minutes into the match, Pombal FC's goal looked a bit too open when Denílson Prata came free, but Josué Teixeira reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pombal FC's goalkeeper Josué Teixeira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
