The audience thought a goal was coming when Juninho Sampaio got free with Sérgio Custódio in the 10th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to AEC Juta Três getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Juninho Sampaio hit a great ball. AEC Juta Três's Silvério Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Claudinei Penha in the 17th minute of play. If Juninho Sampaio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juninho Sampaios short, quick shot in the 27thth minute got Sérgio Custódio to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. AEC Juta Três's Silvério Mendes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Breno Capixaba in the 28th minute of play. Claudinei Penha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to AEC Juta Três getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Eliseu Mangueira hit a great ball. In the 39th minute, João Carlos Valadares got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Juninho Sampaio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sérgio Custódio having to interfere. Claudinei Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Silvério Mendes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Breno Capixaba in the 45th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

After 75 minutes, Joaquim Lara mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maracuja and the AEC Juta Três players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 75 played minutes Maracuja got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Lara. Sérgio Custódio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from João Carlos Valadares, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Silvério Mendes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudinei Penha in the 78th minute of play. When the match clock showed 80 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Claudinei Penha sped through AEC Juta Três's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Silvério Mendes. If Breno Capixaba had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Claudinei Penha kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Silvério Mendes. That made the score 0-2 in the 86 minute of play. The Maracuja supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Maracuja would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
