Alfredinho Pitta started the match with the kick off. Perivaldo Aparecido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egídio Travassos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Perivaldo Aparecido showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dalmo Alagoano, who was totally free with the ball in the 5th minute. Rony Cardoso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge de Andrade having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Alfredinho Pitta put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jorge de Andrade. Luisinho Barral hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of BIRMINGHAM:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of BARRETÃO E. C.:s goal. Rony Cardoso's late challenge caught a BARRETÃO E. C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rony Cardoso helped the player get up and apologised. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dalmo Alagoano in the 26th minute of play forced BIRMINGHAM's goalkeeper Perivaldo Aparecido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. BIRMINGHAM's Perivaldo Aparecido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Egídio Travassos in the 30th minute of play. Perivaldo Aparecido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wiliam Guedes in the 33rd minute of play. When Rony Cardoso came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the BIRMINGHAM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rony Cardoso couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in BARRETÃO E. C.'s zone, Rony Cardoso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jorge de Andrade came out of the goal and Rony Cardoso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilmar Goiano blasted a shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jorge de Andrade having to make a save. 42 minutes into the game, BIRMINGHAM's Rony Cardoso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorge de Andrade made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. In the 46th minute Geovanni do Vale shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Perivaldo Aparecido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Egídio Travassos to make the kick off. Rony Cardoso struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Jorge de Andrade didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BIRMINGHAM. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gilmar Goiano in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jorge de Andrade saved BARRETÃO E. C. from getting behind. Rony Cardoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, BARRETÃO E. C.'s José Carlos Antunes got a free kick in the 56th minute. In the 58th minute, Rony Cardoso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 61 minutes into the game, BIRMINGHAM's Rony Cardoso nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jorge de Andrade made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. BIRMINGHAM's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gilmar Goiano was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, BIRMINGHAM's Perivaldo Aparecido got control of the ball when Wiliam Guedes tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 96th minute Rony Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge de Andrade saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the BARRETÃO E. C. players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for BIRMINGHAM.
