Walmyr Pires could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but João Augusto Souto made a huge save. Hélder Castro's late challenge caught a FC Holfinburg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hélder Castro helped the player get up and apologised. In the 9th match minute, Chernobyl was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hélder Castro to maneuver through the defense. FC Holfinburg's Cipriano Faria couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 10th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Chernobyl. Walmyr Pires's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 12thth minute, João Augusto Souto skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Antônio Xavier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eurico Sampaio having to interfere. Hélder Castro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eurico Sampaio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 18th minute of play. Antônio Xavier scored 0-1 in the 20th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eurico Sampaio, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Almir de Sousa in the 25th minute of play forced Chernobyl's goalkeeper João Augusto Souto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 27th minute, Chernobyl's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Almir de Sousa fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Adriano Maciel hit a great freekick 42 minutes into the match. After the first half Chernobyl were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Almir de Sousa to make the kick off. Marcelinho Motta hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the FC Holfinburg defense, Adriano Maciel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eurico Sampaio. The FC Holfinburg fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eurico Sampaio should have stopped the shot. In the 78thth minute of the game Almir de Sousa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chernobyl's João Augusto Souto was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 80th match minute, FC Holfinburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vitinho Baiano to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Chernobyl getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Adriano Maciel hit a great ball. Chernobyl's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
