After 2 minutes, Augusto Batista made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Assiz SC's Silvério Fantini tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 13 minutes, Dito Varela mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the PHANTOM F. C. and the Assiz SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Romário Barral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Régis Vander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Régis Vander came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Assiz SC's Luís Fábio da Mata. But to his dismay, Luís Fábio da Mata quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. When Augusto Batista came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the PHANTOM F. C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Augusto Batista couldn't finish the play. Artur Simões charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Artur Simões the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Assiz SC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Artur Simões hit a great ball. After 30 played minutes, PHANTOM F. C.'s Olavo de Lima shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Silvério Fantini came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in PHANTOM F. C. reached it. In the 31st minute, Zé Paulo Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Fausto Linhares who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Silvério Fantini when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Augusto Batista fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Silvério Fantini having to interfere. When Assiz SC's Luís Fábio da Mata in the 43rd minute got a chance for a shot 43rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye PHANTOM F. C.'s goalie prevented a goal. After 46 played minutes PHANTOM F. C. got a freekick which was hit by Dito Varela. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The wind increased when Augusto Batista made the kick off in the second half. Silvério Fantini made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fausto Linhares in the 55th minute of play. Régis Vander took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Fábio da Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Augusto Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Batista in the 62nd minute of play forced Assiz SC's goalkeeper Silvério Fantini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a defensive mix-up in PHANTOM F. C.'s zone, Romário Barral stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Régis Vander came out of the goal and Romário Barral tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luís Fábio da Mata received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Régis Vander came out and tried to block the shot, but Luís Fábio da Mata slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 68th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Assiz SC's Artur Simões slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Régis Vander. That made the score 2-3 after 72 minutes of play. In the 77th minute Augusto Batista shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvério Fantini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Luís Fábio da Mata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fausto Linhares struck a weak shot in the 97th minute. Silvério Fantini didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for PHANTOM F. C.. After a defensive mix-up in Assiz SC's zone, Augusto Batista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Silvério Fantini came out of the goal and Augusto Batista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Assiz SC had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
