Minas Gerais's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Minas Gerais's Válbson Velloso tried to score from far away in the 20th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Minas Gerais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arthur Machado to maneuver through the defense. In the 37th minute, Aílton Novaes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 40th minute Aílton Novaes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomás Toscano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jorge Monteiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Oscar Furlan, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oscar Furlan made a kick off. If Osvaldo Chaves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 55 played minutes C.F. Minas Gerais got a freekick which was hit by Guga Breckenfeld. Aílton Novaes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute, João Adolfo Favoretto made a precise shot to the right of Thomás Toscano. C.F. Minas Gerais's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Aílton Novaes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thomás Toscano having to interfere. After having played for 79 minutes, Aílton Novaes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ivatuva SC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aílton Novaes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 80 played minutes C.F. Minas Gerais got a freekick which was hit by Róbson Maranhense. If Aílton Novaes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aílton Novaes hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Thomás Toscano stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Aílton Novaes's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. A collision led to C.F. Minas Gerais getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Arthur Machado hit a great ball. In the 92nd minute Osvaldo Chaves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorge Monteiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
