Paulo José Paiva might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nildo Romero. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Paulo José Paiva ran back to his position shaking his head. Nildo Romero made a fantastic save in the 15th minute, when Frédson Vidal sent off a good shot on target. JAPARAIBA FC's Douglas Damião played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ruy Tepedino in the 25th minute of play. Raphael Paes hit a great freekick 26 minutes into the match. José Paulo Alves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Paulo José Paiva made a kick off. Nildo Romero came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by JAPARAIBA FC's Paulo José Paiva. But to his dismay, Paulo José Paiva quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Paulo Alves in the 55th minute of play forced JAPARAIBA FC's goalkeeper Douglas Damião to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ruy Tepedino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Douglas Damião read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Luiz Fábio Saldanha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Douglas Damião tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Paulo José Paiva recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. José Paulo Alves might have been able to make a better finish in the 80th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Douglas Damião. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. José Paulo Alves ran back to his position shaking his head. If José Paulo Alves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chapadinho's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
