Carlos Eduardo Gomes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sílvio Luís de Lima fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Percy Matos having to interfere. After 12 minutes, Romário Vander mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jacuricy EC and the Franca SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Romário Vander hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 15 minutes, Afonsinho Chaves put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Afonso Marquez. When Carlos Eduardo Gomes came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Jacuricy EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlos Eduardo Gomes couldn't finish the play. Percy Matos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Eduardo Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 25th minute Carlos Eduardo Gomes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Percy Matos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jacuricy EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tião Machado was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Percy Matos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Romário Vander in the 39th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 45 minutes, Sílvio Luís de Lima put it in 1-2 from a short distance just to the right of Percy Matos. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Sílvio Luís de Lima to make the kick off. Afonso Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gil Azevedo in the 51st minute of the match. Percy Matos was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Genílson Valadares. Sílvio Luís de Lima struck a weak shot in the 56th minute. Percy Matos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Jacuricy EC. Carlos Eduardo Gomes who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 58thth minute tested the skills of Percy Matos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Sílvio Luís de Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Percy Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sílvio Luís de Lima came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Jacuricy EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sílvio Luís de Lima couldn't finish the play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Romário Vander got free with Percy Matos in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Percy Matos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kléber Paraibano, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. In the 75th minute, Jacuricy EC's Carlos Eduardo Gomes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Percy Matos. Percy Matos yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-3. Jacuricy EC's Afonso Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Afonsinho Chaves in the 78th minute of play. Afonso Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Afonsinho Chaves in the 80th minute of the match. Kléber Paraibano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Percy Matos acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 88th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Genílson Valadares. With a little luck, Franca SC's Percy Matos got control of the ball when Romário Vander tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 94th minute of the match Jacuricy EC got a corner. Franca SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sílvio Luís de Lima ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Sílvio Luís de Lima got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Percy Matos quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save.
