Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bruninho Vasconcelos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ulysses Marques read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. Ciro Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulysses Marques having to interfere. Enio Abreu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dalmo de Salles, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Duarte Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hakuna Matata's supporters rose to their feet, but Duarte Correia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Enio Abreu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Duarte Correia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renan Lara hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Duarte Correia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ulysses Marques came out of the goal and Ciro Prestes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bruninho Vasconcelos who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Ulysses Marques when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Ciro Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Ulysses Marques tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ciro Prestes to make the kick off. Ciro Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ulysses Marques having to interfere. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Rodolfo Meira helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Hakuna Matata getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Rodolfo Meira hit a great ball. In the 74th minute, Ciro Prestes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ulysses Marques was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bruninho Vasconcelos in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ulysses Marques prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Mangunca's supporters rose to their feet, but Arthur Pimenta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ulysses Marques breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee ended the match the Mangunca players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
