In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Viela Paulista FC's goalkeeper Jonas Paiva, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jonas Paiva came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by PORTO's Elano Neves. But to his dismay, Elano Neves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Elano Neves in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonas Paiva prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 18 played minutes PORTO got a freekick which was hit by Generoso Diegotxe. Jonas Paiva stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elano Neves's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. In the 31stth minute of the game Elano Neves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Viela Paulista FC's Jonas Paiva was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Emílio Barbosa was a little too slow when Hudson Lopes got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 1-2. Enéas Madureira charged in rather forcefully in the 36th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Enéas Madureira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 36th minute, Enéas Madureira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Augusto Sá fell near the penalty area in the 38th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored PORTO's protests and gave Augusto Sá a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Viela Paulista FC booed when PORTO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Augusto Sá didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Elano Neves managed to get in a good position for a shot. PORTO's supporters rose to their feet, but Elano Neves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jonas Paiva breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

In the 51st match minute, PORTO was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Augusto Sá to maneuver through the defense. Elano Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Jonas Paiva tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 63rd minute of the match Şükrü Öge sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonas Paiva skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, PORTO's Generoso Diegotxe got a free kick in the 64th minute. With a little luck, Viela Paulista FC's Jonas Paiva got control of the ball when Elano Neves tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ulysses Dionísio charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ulysses Dionísio the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of PORTO booed when Viela Paulista FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ulysses Dionísio didn't get a good kick on the ball. Generoso Diegotxe was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 73 minutes into the match. The referee gave Viela Paulista FC a penalty, 75 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Angelo Prata, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of PORTO's Emílio Barbosa. 3-3. When the match had gone on for 82 minutes, Mugurel Stancu took a quick shot and it went in 3-5 without a chance for Jonas Paiva to make any attempt to save it. 90 minutes into the match, PORTO's Enéas Madureira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonas Paiva narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 95th minute, Enéas Madureira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hudson Lopes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Emílio Barbosa having to interfere. The Viela Paulista FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. PORTO were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
