The audience held their breath when Hernani Mandrak in the 13th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Celso Amorim's left hand side. Celso Amorim came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Marvai SC's Márcio Trancoso. But to his dismay, Márcio Trancoso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Ediberto de Amorim fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Evandro Figueiredo having to interfere. Celso Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Márcio Trancoso, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. In the 27th minute Waldemar Meireles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celso Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
