Umberto Vander sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 8 minutes into the game, Fortaleza EC's Ademir Dante nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valério Miranda made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. With splendid footwork Umberto Vander arrived in front of goal to shoot 2-0 by the left pole in the game's 13th minute. After a rather tough play, Fortaleza EC's Ademir Dante got a free kick in the 18th minute. Wiliam Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Zézinho Neves didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for EC Sapupira. The audience thought a goal was coming when Benjamin Mineiro got free with Valério Miranda in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the match, EC Sapupira's Sidney da Silveira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Zézinho Neves narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Fortaleza EC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Cristiano Vargas in the 37th minute. After taking down the ball on Fortaleza EC's corner Cristiano Vargas fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Valério Miranda quite easily take care of the ball. Wiliam Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zézinho Neves having to interfere. If Sidney da Silveira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The wind increased when Wiliam Gonçalves made the kick off in the second half. The supporters of EC Sapupira booed when Fortaleza EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cícero Trevisan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sidney da Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Zézinho Neves tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Valério Miranda stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Umberto Vander's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Benjamin Mineiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Fortaleza EC booed when EC Sapupira was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Wellington Goiano didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th minute of the match Cristiano Vargas shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Valério Miranda showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Benjamin Mineiro in the 72nd minute of play forced EC Sapupira's goalkeeper Valério Miranda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to EC Sapupira getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Caetano Penha hit a great ball. Valério Miranda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Benjamin Mineiro in the 77th minute of play. In the 78thth minute of the game Benjamin Mineiro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but EC Sapupira's Valério Miranda was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Valério Miranda came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Fortaleza EC's Benjamin Mineiro. But to his dismay, Benjamin Mineiro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. When Umberto Vander came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Fortaleza EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Umberto Vander couldn't finish the play. After a defensive mix-up in EC Sapupira's zone, Benjamin Mineiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valério Miranda came out of the goal and Benjamin Mineiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
