After 26 played minutes, FC Leões's Matías Alves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Carlos Maia came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in FC Leões reached it. Carlos Maia made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Claudinho Neves sent off a good shot on target. Natanael Custódio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 37 minutes into the game, Luís Gustavo Lima was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Yuri Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Natanael Custódio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Vitório Alvarenga made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Olívio de Godoi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chalet's supporters rose to their feet, but Olívio de Godoi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Carlos Maia was left in no man's land by his defense there! Chalet's Luís Gustavo Lima got his second yellow card of the match in the 83rd minute. The referee ordered Luís Gustavo Lima off the ground. With a little luck, FC Leões's Vitório Alvarenga got control of the ball when Natanael Custódio tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Ricardo Vinhas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute.
