Spectators: 7266 (Terracing: 5451, Seating: 1671, VIP seats: 144) 5 minutes into the match, FC Leões's Wilson de Castro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Juarês Mesquita narrowly saved just below the crossbar. FC Leões's Claudinho Neves got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 9 played minutes Curicica got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Fábio Linhares. Yuri Aparecido recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Yuri Aparecido had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Claudinho Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Juarês Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Curicica's Luiz Fábio Linhares got a free kick in the 15th minute. Sandrinho Senna hit a great freekick 18 minutes into the match. With his leg Vitório Alvarenga managed to avoid a goal in the 22ndth minute, when Curicica's Walmyr Travassos fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Vitório Alvarenga made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Walmyr Travassos sent off a good shot on target. In the 27th minute Yuri Aparecido shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juarês Mesquita saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Claudinho Neves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Juarês Mesquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 35th minute, Silas Branco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Curicica's zone, Yuri Aparecido stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juarês Mesquita came out of the goal and Yuri Aparecido tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Yuri Aparecido in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juarês Mesquita prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Washington Queiroz during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 39th minute, Washington Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudinho Neves in the 40th minute of play forced Curicica's goalkeeper Juarês Mesquita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Curicica's Walmyr Travassos got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vitório Alvarenga made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Walmyr Travassos sent off a good shot on target. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Curicica's Juarês Mesquita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Yuri Aparecido in the 53rd minute of play. Juarês Mesquita showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yuri Aparecido in the 56th minute of the match. If Claudinho Neves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 59th minute, Yuri Aparecido got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 61stth minute of the game Yuri Aparecido who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Curicica's Juarês Mesquita was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yuri Aparecido couldn't finish the play.
