The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Aírton Lucas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Leopoldo Palmeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Washington Sena in the 37th minute of play forced Chiapetta's goalkeeper Leopoldo Palmeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Washington Sena made a kick off. In the 51stth minute of the game Washington Sena who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Chiapetta's Leopoldo Palmeira was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Aírton Lucas kicked well hit freekick during the 54th minute of the match. After 58 played minutes Super Mengão got a freekick which was hit by Geovani Corrêa. The audience cheered when Carlos Alberto Vander's long shot passed Renato dos Santos's right side. It was 1-0, 59 minutes into the match. After 63 played minutes Super Mengão got a freekick which was hit by Aírton Lucas. In the 67th minute, Carlos Alberto Vander sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Super Mengão's Renato dos Santos didn't even have to move. Renato dos Santos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Antônio Paranaense in the 70th minute of play. After some careless play in the Super Mengão defense, Antônio Paranaense kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Renato dos Santos. The Super Mengão fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Renato dos Santos should have stopped the shot. Leandro Rossi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Leopoldo Palmeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Leandro Rossi got free with Leopoldo Palmeira in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Washington Sena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Leopoldo Palmeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Washington Sena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute.
