Leopoldo Palmeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leonardo Tande, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Chiapetta's zone, Olívio Guimarães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leopoldo Palmeira came out of the goal and Olívio Guimarães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

The wind increased when Agnaldo Maranhense made the kick off in the second half. Leonardo Tande could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Leopoldo Palmeira made a huge save. In the 55th minute Agnaldo Maranhense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Betão da Fonseca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Leonardo Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leopoldo Palmeira having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Olívio Guimarães managed to get in a good position for a shot. When Agnaldo Maranhense came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Chiapetta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Agnaldo Maranhense couldn't finish the play. Leopoldo Palmeira made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Leonardo Tande sent off a good shot on target. Agnaldo Maranhense fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Betão da Fonseca having to interfere. The supporters of Chiapetta booed when Mavedeve was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastião Vargas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Carlos Alberto Vander struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Betão da Fonseca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Chiapetta. A collision led to Mavedeve getting a freekick after 96 minutes play. Rodrigo Queirós hit a great ball. Mavedeve's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because Chiapetta had won, even though Mavedeve had held more of the ball.
