Benê Gaspar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Washington Fernandez in the 3rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joélson Varela in the 7th minute of play forced Di Calcanha's goalkeeper Benê Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had been going on for 14 minutes, Di Calcanha's José Paulo Proença got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of José Chilavert. 24 minutes into the game, S.E Frei Damião's José Pedro Carvalho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benê Gaspar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Washington Fernandez in the 28th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Benê Gaspar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If José Pedro Carvalho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 31st minute, Washington Fernandez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benê Gaspar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The referee felt a red card was in order, 37 minutes into the game, when Dorival Sousa put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in S.E Frei Damião fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 40 minutes, Di Calcanha's José Paulo Proença got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of José Chilavert. Benê Gaspar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Washington Fernandez in the 43rd minute of play. Alfredinho Trancoso recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. S.E Frei Damião's Washington Fernandez got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Igor Brasil to make the kick off. The crowd rose to their feet as Hugo da Costa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Benê Gaspar. That made the score 2-3 in the 53 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Di Calcanha's zone, Washington Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benê Gaspar came out of the goal and Washington Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 61st minute, Ronaldão Bastos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Washington Fernandez was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 68th minute. S.E Frei Damião's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The supporters of S.E Frei Damião booed when Di Calcanha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 76th match minute, S.E Frei Damião was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredinho Trancoso to maneuver through the defense. S.E Frei Damião's José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Paulo Proença in the 77th minute of play. Washington Fernandez kicked well hit freekick during the 77th minute of the match. José Chilavert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cesinha Bittencourt in the 80th minute of play. After a rather tough play, S.E Frei Damião's Zé Pedro Quadros got a free kick in the 81st minute. After a defensive mix-up in Di Calcanha's zone, Washington Fernandez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Benê Gaspar came out of the goal and Washington Fernandez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 84 minutes into the match, Di Calcanha's goalkeeper Benê Gaspar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Joélson Varela. Benê Gaspar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Washington Fernandez in the 86th minute of the match. In the 87th minute Hugo da Costa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benê Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 91 played minutes Washington Fernandez rounded Di Calcanha's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-4. 95 minutes into the game, S.E Frei Damião's Washington Fernandez nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benê Gaspar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-5. When the final whistle sounded S.E Frei Damião left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Di Calcanha.
