The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Benê Gaspar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Giuseppe do Nascimento in the 6th minute of play. Benê Gaspar dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 15 minutes into the game, Orlando Queiroz was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Di Calcanha's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chaveando the free kick. In the 15th minute, Orlando Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Giuseppe do Nascimento fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Chaveando's protests and gave Giuseppe do Nascimento a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th minute, Giuseppe do Nascimento hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Giuseppe do Nascimento got free in front of the goal in the 19th minute he wasn't very focused and chipped the ball just over the goal. Benê Gaspar was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Benê Gaspar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlos Alberto Esteves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ronaldão Bastos during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 23rd match minute, Di Calcanha was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ronaldão Bastos to maneuver through the defense. Benê Gaspar showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Giuseppe do Nascimento, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Vitório Albuquerque hit a great ball. In the 42nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Chaveando's goalkeeper Raphael Salles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Chaveando's José Augusto Meireles got a free kick in the 43rd minute. José Paulo Proença recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Igor Brasil came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the Di Calcanha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Brasil couldn't finish the play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Igor Brasil to make the kick off. After a rather tough play, Chaveando's Bruninho Pernambucano got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Cesinha Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Raphael Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Chaveando's Raphael Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Igor Brasil in the 56th minute of play. Carlos Alberto Esteves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Alberto Esteves got free with Benê Gaspar in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Di Calcanha's Benê Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giuseppe do Nascimento in the 65th minute of play. The supporters of Chaveando booed when Di Calcanha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Guto de Senna didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlos Fernando Pinheiro in the 76th minute of play forced Di Calcanha's goalkeeper Benê Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Carlos Alberto Esteves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 84th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benê Gaspar having to interfere. Cesinha Bittencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Raphael Salles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cesinha Bittencourt in the 98th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Raphael Salles prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Chaveando eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
