Spectators: 7238 (Terracing: 5430, Seating: 1665, VIP seats: 143) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Chiquinho Moreno made the kick off which started today's match. Tostão Meireles charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tostão Meireles the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Catuira getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Tostão Meireles hit a great ball. The throw-in from Edu Antunes in the 10th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Vergasta FC's José Pedro Bertassi. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Joélson Berger managed to get in a good position for a shot. Catuira's supporters rose to their feet, but Joélson Berger was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chiquinho Paraense breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chiquinho Moreno hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Catuira's Paulo José Leme got a free kick in the 23rd minute. In the 28th minute Dito Cavalcante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmílson Cosme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Chiquinho Paraense came out of the goal in the 33rd minute to try and stop a shot by Catuira's Chiquinho Moreno. But to his dismay, Chiquinho Moreno quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. If Charles Prata had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Catuira's Edmílson Cosme played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dito Cavalcante in the 44th minute of play. After some careless play in the Catuira defense, Dito Cavalcante kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edmílson Cosme. The Catuira fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edmílson Cosme should have stopped the shot. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dito Cavalcante to strike the kick off in the second half. Dito Cavalcante struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Edmílson Cosme didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vergasta FC. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Vergasta FC's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Miguel de Azevedo was slow to take the kick. During this time Catuira's players had a chance to rest. Catuira's Miguel de Azevedo was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Chiquinho Paraense in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, Catuira's Edu Antunes got a free kick in the 60th minute. Chiquinho Paraense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Joélson Berger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 63rd minute, Paulo José Leme had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. After 63 minutes, Charles Prata mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vergasta FC and the Catuira players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 64th match minute, Vergasta FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Charles Prata to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute, Antônio Carlos Lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind Catuira's goalkeeper Edmílson Cosme, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 90 played minutes Catuira got a freekick which was hit by Tostão Meireles. Charles Prata received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Edmílson Cosme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Catuira's zone, Dito Cavalcante stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmílson Cosme came out of the goal and Dito Cavalcante tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
