The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Caldeirão Paranense F C's goal looked a bit too open when Caetano de Carvalho came free, but Diguinho Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 4th minute, Charles de Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Fumo's zone, Gilmar Vinhas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cléberson Lucas came out of the goal and Gilmar Vinhas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 8 minutes into the game, Ricardo Simões was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Fumo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Caldeirão Paranense F C the free kick. Ricardo Simões hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. Mateus Cunha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Cléberson Lucas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gilmar Vinhas in the 12th minute. In the 14th minute Toninho Veloso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Diguinho Vargas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 19 minutes, Mateus Cunha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Caldeirão Paranense F C's supporters crossed their fingers, but Mateus Cunha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mateus Cunha received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Cléberson Lucas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Toninho Veloso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 46 minutes of play Fumo's Ricardo Simões was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Caldeirão Paranense F C booed when Fumo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 47 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball.

In the 55th match minute, Caldeirão Paranense F C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Maurinho Antunes to maneuver through the defense. Fumo's Toninho Veloso got a good chance for a goal in the 57th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 57 minutes into the game, Toninho Veloso was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. In the 72nd minute, Mateus Cunha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Caldeirão Paranense F C's zone, Toninho Veloso stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Diguinho Vargas came out of the goal and Toninho Veloso tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ivo Garcia struck a weak shot in the 83rd minute. Diguinho Vargas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fumo. In the 86thth minute of the game Mateus Cunha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Fumo's Cléberson Lucas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 87 played minutes Fumo got a freekick which was hit by Germano Silveira. 88 minutes into the match, Caldeirão Paranense F C's Maurinho Antunes broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 90th minute, Antônio Carlos Albuquerque hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 92nd minute, Toninho Veloso managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fumo's supporters rose to their feet, but Toninho Veloso was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Diguinho Vargas breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 96 minutes Caldeirão Paranense F C's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Hélder Linares who took care of the corner kick. Aníbal Maciel tried in the 96th minute to hit away a contribution but miss-kicked the ball which ended up in his own goal and left an unhappy Diguinho Vargas a with quite unnecessary self made goal. Result 0-1. Fumo's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
