Dário Paiva received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Juan Antunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Evaristo Maciel might have been able to make a better finish in the 8th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Juan Antunes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Evaristo Maciel ran back to his position shaking his head. Alexandre Santana struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Juan Antunes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for GALÁTICOS. In the 13th match minute, GALÁTICOS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kiko Schmidt to maneuver through the defense. Grota's Gildo Mattos couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for GALÁTICOS. Dorival Arruda made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bruninho Loyola in the 18th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Evaristo Maciel in the 20th minute of play forced Grota's goalkeeper Juan Antunes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 21 minutes of play, GALÁTICOS's Alexandre Santana made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juan Antunes was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience was convinced that Alexandre Santana's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Juan Antunes was relentless in the 26th minute of the game. Evaristo Maciel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Juan Antunes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Grota's Juan Antunes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Evaristo Maciel in the 34th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, GALÁTICOS's goalkeeper Dorival Arruda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bruninho Loyola. Juan Antunes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Santana, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 43rd minute, Dário Paiva had to leave the field with a concussion. Luís Fábio Matorin charged in rather forcefully in the 43rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Luís Fábio Matorin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 44 played minutes Grota got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fábio Matorin. After recieving a nice pass, GALÁTICOS's Tarcisio Cruz tried to score from far away in the 45th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. When Alexandre Santana came up free with the goalie in the 47th minute, the GALÁTICOS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alexandre Santana couldn't finish the play. After the first half GALÁTICOS were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Téo Pires was the one to do the kick off. After 53 minutes of play, GALÁTICOS's Kiko Schmidt made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Juan Antunes was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 56th minute, Alexandre Santana reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Juan Antunes. The goal made the score 0-3. Alexandre Santana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dorival Arruda didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Téo Pires went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Alexandre Santana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juan Antunes having to interfere. GALÁTICOS's Dorival Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Téo Pires in the 81st minute of play. Alexandre Santana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexandre Santana got free with Juan Antunes in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 88 played minutes Grota got a freekick which was hit by Luís Fábio Matorin. In the 90th minute, Alexandre Santana got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Dorival Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruninho Loyola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Téo Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dorival Arruda having to interfere. The GALÁTICOS supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing GALÁTICOS would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
