Sidnei Paulista helped the player get up and apologised. Sidnei Paulista kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Guga Brasil fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jairo do Nascimento having to interfere. In the 23rd minute, Guga Brasil got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guga Brasil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Jairo do Nascimento tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 30 played minutes Atlético Nonato got a freekick which was hit by Abelardo Vidal. Eusébio Proença fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorginho Barbosa having to interfere. Jorginho Barbosa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Váldson Valle in the 35th minute of the match. If Eusébio Proença had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jairo do Nascimento showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cícero de Amaral, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 41st minute, Eusébio Proença managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Nonato's supporters rose to their feet, but Eusébio Proença was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorginho Barbosa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 47 minutes, Guga Brasil managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ca o Du's supporters crossed their fingers, but Guga Brasil was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Váldson Valle to strike the kick off in the second half. Jairo do Nascimento stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guga Brasil's shot from short distance in the 54th minute. In the 64th minute, Cícero de Amaral left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ca o Du fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Váldson Valle couldn't finish the play. Atlético Nonato's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
