In the 21st minute, Váldson Valle got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 33rd minute of the match Carioca got a corner. Atlético Nonato's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jarbas Lucas ran over to the corner to take the kick. The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Betão Severo advanced and headed the ball into goal, 2-0 in the 33rd minute. After 56 played minutes Atlético Nonato got a freekick which was hit by Sidnei Paulista. Jairo do Nascimento made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luiz Donato in the 58th minute of play. Cauã Oliveira had great luck who in the 62ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Váldson Valle from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. The audience was convinced that André Luiz Donato's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jairo do Nascimento was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. Ediberto Santana's late challenge caught a Atlético Nonato's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ediberto Santana helped the player get up and apologised. If Váldson Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 100th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Carioca walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
