The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute Fernandão Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Eduardo Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Carlos Eduardo Barreto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandrinho da Costa in the 6th minute of the match. Fernandão Paraense struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Carlos Eduardo Barreto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carnaubal. Nicolas Prestes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Conrado Novaes having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sandrinho da Costa in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carlos Eduardo Barreto prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Carnaubal booed when Upanema AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano Rossi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 19 minutes, Fernandão Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carnaubal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernandão Paraense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gildo Barbosa during the 21st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Carnaubal booed when Upanema AD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gildo Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gildo Barbosa got his second yellow card in the match during the 25th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to Upanema AD getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Gildo Barbosa hit a great ball. After 28 played minutes Upanema AD got a freekick which was hit by Olavo Siqueira. 31 minutes into the game, Pedro Augusto Matos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Carnaubal's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Upanema AD the free kick. In the 31st minute, Pedro Augusto Matos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A nice corner shot did that Dito Mangueira got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Conrado Novaes quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 35th minute, Sandrinho da Costa made a precise shot to the right of Carlos Eduardo Barreto. Upanema AD's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. 41 minutes into the match, Sandrinho da Costa notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Upanema AD's Carlos Eduardo Barreto. Carlos Eduardo Barreto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 47th minute Fernandão Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlos Eduardo Barreto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Nicolas Prestes stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute, Décio Cosme hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 56 minutes, Fernandão Paraense managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Carnaubal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fernandão Paraense was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sandrinho da Costa got free with Carlos Eduardo Barreto in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fabiano Rossi during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fabiano Rossi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Nicolas Prestes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Conrado Novaes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Carnaubal defense, Olavo Siqueira kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Conrado Novaes. The Carnaubal fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Conrado Novaes should have stopped the shot. Manfredo Furlan's late challenge caught a Upanema AD's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manfredo Furlan helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Carnaubal's Manfredo Furlan got a free kick in the 78th minute. Nicolas Prestes struck a weak shot in the 79th minute. Conrado Novaes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Upanema AD. After a defensive mix-up in Upanema AD's zone, Sandrinho da Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Carlos Eduardo Barreto came out of the goal and Sandrinho da Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicolas Prestes in the 93rd minute of play forced Carnaubal's goalkeeper Conrado Novaes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Olavo Siqueira came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Upanema AD fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olavo Siqueira couldn't finish the play. The Carnaubal players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
