Pedro Luiz Massa was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 4 minutes into the match. Gabriel Esteves shot the penalty kick right outside the post. After some careless play in the Botafogo defense, Durvalino Lopez kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Giovanni Guimarães. The Botafogo fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Giovanni Guimarães should have stopped the shot. In the 18thth minute of the game Danilo Linares who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Botafogo's Giovanni Guimarães was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 20th minute Danilo Linares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovanni Guimarães saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE's Durvalino Lopez got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Giovanni Guimarães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Durvalino Lopez's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Durvalino Lopez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giovanni Guimarães having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Durvalino Lopez in the 31st minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Giovanni Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Durvalino Lopez in the 42nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Giovanni Guimarães saved Botafogo from getting behind. Giovanni Guimarães showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Durvalino Lopez in the 44th minute of the match. Danilo Linares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Durvalino Lopez managed to get in a good position for a shot. FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE's supporters rose to their feet, but Durvalino Lopez was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Giovanni Guimarães breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Durvalino Lopez got free with Giovanni Guimarães in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Giovanni Guimarães made an important save on a dangerous shot by Durvalino Lopez in the 66th minute. Giovanni Guimarães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Danilo Linares in the 69th minute of play. When Tadeu Santos fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE's protests and gave Tadeu Santos a yellow card for diving instead. Durvalino Lopez came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Giovanni Guimarães could save by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danilo Linares in the 78th minute of play forced Botafogo's goalkeeper Giovanni Guimarães to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Botafogo's Vladimir Ramalho got a free kick in the 80th minute. 81 minutes into the match, FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE's Gabriel Esteves broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 83rd play minute Durvalino Lopez came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Giovanni Guimarães. 0-3. The crowd rose to their feet as FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE's Danilo Linares slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Giovanni Guimarães. That made the score 0-4 after 88 minutes of play. In the 93rd minute, Durvalino Lopez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Giovanni Guimarães was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. FC WASH FUTEBOL CLUBE's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
