Spectators: 6655 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1655, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Ronaldinho Arruda started the match with the kick off. The supporters of Valoes SC booed when Piauna EC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luís de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. Piauna EC's Enéas Albuquerque got a good chance for a goal in the 5th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Durvalino Vasconcelos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Célio Favoretto was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. In the 10th match minute, Piauna EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gualter Trigo to maneuver through the defense. Agostinho de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Agostinho de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Favoretto having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Durvalino Vasconcelos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Célio Favoretto was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. After having played for 20 minutes, Gualter Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piauna EC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gualter Trigo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Célio Favoretto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agostinho de Barros in the 21st minute of the match. Durvalino Vasconcelos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Favoretto having to interfere. After having played for 24 minutes, Gualter Trigo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kaká Leal could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Edmundo Nascimento made a huge save. Durvalino Vasconcelos struck a weak shot in the 29th minute. Célio Favoretto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piauna EC. When Gualter Trigo came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Piauna EC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gualter Trigo couldn't finish the play. Durvalino Vasconcelos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Durvalino Vasconcelos might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Célio Favoretto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Durvalino Vasconcelos ran back to his position shaking his head. Betinho Vieira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Célio Favoretto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Agostinho de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gualter Trigo was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 41 minutes into the match. After 41 played minutes Piauna EC got a freekick which was hit by Gualter Trigo. After a defensive mix-up in Piauna EC's zone, Samuel do Vale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Edmundo Nascimento came out of the goal and Samuel do Vale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 44 minutes, Edmundo Nascimento successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Enéas Albuquerque made the kick off in the second half. Célio Favoretto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enéas Albuquerque, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. Agostinho de Barros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célio Favoretto having to interfere. Valoes SC's defense didn't have a chance, in the 61st minute, when Enéas Albuquerque scored to the left of an out of position Célio Favoretto, making the score, 1-3. In the 64th minute, Durvalino Vasconcelos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Enéas Albuquerque received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Célio Favoretto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enéas Albuquerque recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Durvalino Vasconcelos's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Célio Favoretto read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Durvalino Vasconcelos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Célio Favoretto was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Samuel do Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 75th minute, Durval Lara got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 78th minute Enéas Albuquerque shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Célio Favoretto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Valoes SC's Oséas Vieira got a free kick in the 78th minute. Durvalino Vasconcelos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 82nd minute, Durvalino Vasconcelos left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Piauna EC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Durvalino Vasconcelos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Valoes SC's zone, Enéas Albuquerque stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Célio Favoretto came out of the goal and Enéas Albuquerque tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 91st minute, Piauna EC's Durvalino Vasconcelos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Célio Favoretto. Célio Favoretto yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. When the final whistle sounded Piauna EC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Valoes SC.
