Acácio Paes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcus Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 7 played minutes Valparaiba SC got a freekick which was hit by Dalmo Tavares. After having played for 11 minutes, Marcus Simão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Maragipinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marcus Simão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 16thth minute of the game Vitório Alcântara who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Valparaiba SC's Acácio Paes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Marcus Simão scored 0-1 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Acácio Paes, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 19th minute, Marcus Simão got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. A collision led to Maragipinho getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Jonas Silveira hit a great ball. Toninho França was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 23rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Dalmo Tavares sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vitório Alcântara in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Acácio Paes saved Valparaiba SC from getting behind. Jonas Silveira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Acácio Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcus Simão in the 39th minute of play forced Valparaiba SC's goalkeeper Acácio Paes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vitório Alcântara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcus Simão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Acácio Paes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Valparaiba SC's zone, Marcus Simão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Acácio Paes came out of the goal and Marcus Simão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Dalmo Tavares fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Christiano Queiroz having to interfere. Dalmo Tavares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Christiano Queiroz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Valparaiba SC's Acácio Paes got control of the ball when Marcus Simão tried to sneak it across the goal line. Acácio Paes didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marcus Simão went, in the 69th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Dalmo Tavares fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 73rd minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. 77 minutes into the match, Valparaiba SC's goalkeeper Acácio Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Marcus Simão. Marcus Simão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 80 minutes into the match, Valparaiba SC's goalkeeper Acácio Paes had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Geovânio Rosado. Geovânio Rosado's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Acácio Paes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Maragipinho walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
