Dínamo Kiev's Wilian Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Manuel Furlan in the 6th minute of play. 10 minutes into the game, one of Dínamo Kiev:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 21st minute, Zé Paulo Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Wilian Zonta. Dínamo Kiev's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Wilian Zonta made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manuel Furlan in the 25th minute of play. Saraiva's Manuel Furlan got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Narciso Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zé Paulo Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilian Zonta having to interfere. Dínamo Kiev's Wilian Zonta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narciso Severo in the 38th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Dínamo Kiev's zone, Manuel Furlan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilian Zonta came out of the goal and Manuel Furlan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Danilo Paes might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilian Zonta. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Danilo Paes ran back to his position shaking his head. Zé Paulo Sena's late challenge caught a Saraiva's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Zé Paulo Sena helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Zé Paulo Sena hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Zé Paulo Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilian Zonta having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Dínamo Kiev's goal looked a bit too open when Narciso Severo came free, but Wilian Zonta reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Dínamo Kiev players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Saraiva were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Zé Paulo Montenegro to strike the kick off in the second half. Luizão Braga kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. After 57 played minutes Dínamo Kiev got a freekick which was hit by Percival Souto. After a defensive mix-up in Dínamo Kiev's zone, Zé Paulo Montenegro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilian Zonta came out of the goal and Zé Paulo Montenegro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 61 minutes, Manuel Furlan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saraiva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Furlan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Zé Paulo Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 70th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dínamo Kiev's goalkeeper Wilian Zonta, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Luizão Braga hit a great freekick 70 minutes into the match. Wilian Zonta showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Manuel Furlan in the 75th minute of the match. Zé Paulo Montenegro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 78th minute. Wilian Zonta tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Paulo Montenegro in the 86th minute of play forced Dínamo Kiev's goalkeeper Wilian Zonta to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 88 minutes, Narciso Severo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Saraiva's supporters crossed their fingers, but Narciso Severo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Narciso Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Saraiva's Narciso Severo got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Dínamo Kiev fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Saraiva were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
