Robinho Xavier didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Paulo Pires went, in the 3rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Vítor Zonta came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the Avante fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vítor Zonta couldn't finish the play. 13 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube Vitória's goal looked a bit too open when Zeca Cosme came free, but Robinho Xavier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luiz Gustavo Donatello hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. When Avante's Zeca Cosme in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The player immediately received a yellow card. Robinho Xavier went to the wrong direction when Willian Silveira was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. After a rather tough play, Esporte Clube Vitória's Enio Prestes got a free kick in the 36th minute. The attack was good, but when José Paulo Pires in the 37th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Robinho Xavier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Paulo Pires in the 39th minute of the match. 42 minutes into the match, Avante's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Arruda came free, but Válter Guedes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Belmiro Pinheiro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When Avante's Zeca Cosme in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Válter Guedes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Arruda, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Matheus Sampaio's late challenge caught a Esporte Clube Vitória's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Matheus Sampaio helped the player get up and apologised. Matheus Sampaio hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute the ball was on its way in behind Avante's goalkeeper Válter Guedes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Robinho Xavier made an important save on a dangerous shot by José Paulo Pires in the 60th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cláudio Arruda in the 63rd minute of play forced Avante's goalkeeper Válter Guedes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube Vitória's Cláudio Arruda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Válter Guedes narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Esporte Clube Vitória booed when Avante was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Matheus Sampaio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 72 played minutes Esporte Clube Vitória got a freekick which was hit by Enio Prestes. Tomás Pinho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Válter Guedes. Avante's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. José Paulo Pires fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Robinho Xavier having to interfere. Zeca Cosme blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Robinho Xavier having to make a save. In the 91st minute Belmiro Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Válter Guedes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. José Paulo Pires could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Robinho Xavier made a huge save. Belmiro Pinheiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Esporte Clube Vitória were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Avante for a fine match.
