The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match Enéas Cavalcante climbed in front of goal and pressed up 1-0 in the right cross behind a totally surprised Naldo Araújo. If Durvalino Pirani had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Carranca SS's Enéas Cavalcante in 10 game minutes managed to cut through with the ball in front of the goal, only having to shoot. Naldo Araújo guarding the goal like a pit bull was extremely focused and managed to reach the ball just by the crossbar before it went in. After a rather tough play, Carranca SS's Sílvio Luís Brito got a free kick in the 13th minute. Enéas Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Naldo Araújo having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Carranca SS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fred Arósio to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Carranca SS's goal looked a bit too open when Nico de Moraes came free, but Betinho Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Enéas Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Setubinha SS's goalkeeper Naldo Araújo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Durvalino Pirani received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Naldo Araújo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Durvalino Pirani's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Naldo Araújo was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. A collision led to Carranca SS getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Fred Arósio hit a great ball. In the 75th minute, Durvalino Pirani got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Enéas Cavalcante in the 77th minute of play forced Setubinha SS's goalkeeper Naldo Araújo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Albertinho de Toledo came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Setubinha SS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertinho de Toledo couldn't finish the play. Carranca SS's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
