Nexus Club's Norberto Tavares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafim de Sena in the 10th minute of play. A collision led to Cambuci getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Frank de Alcântara hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Frank de Alcântara shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Norberto Tavares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Marcel Tasso fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Norberto Tavares having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcel Tasso got free with Norberto Tavares in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcel Tasso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
