Garibaldi RS's Chicão Recife played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Tasso in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of Cambuci booed when Garibaldi RS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Brodel didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Gustavo Zonta took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matheus Faria, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee ignored Cambuci's protests and gave Frank de Alcântara a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Cambuci getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Frank de Alcântara hit a great ball. In the 44th minute, Matheus Faria reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Luiz Gustavo Zonta. The goal made the score 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Marcel Tasso to strike the kick off in the second half. Chicão Recife made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank de Alcântara in the 51st minute of play. Marcel Tasso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Chicão Recife made a huge save. Frank de Alcântara ran back to his position shaking his head. 75 minutes into the match, Marcel Tasso notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Garibaldi RS's Chicão Recife. Chicão Recife was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Frank de Alcântara fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chicão Recife having to interfere.
