The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Thiago de Azevedo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Reginaldo Rosa in the 3rd minute of play. After having played for 4 minutes, Sandro Galvão managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santo FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sandro Galvão was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Marquinhos Ramalho came up free with the goalie in the 5th minute, the Santo FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Marquinhos Ramalho couldn't finish the play. In the 9th minute Marquinhos Ramalho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulinho Arantes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Diamantino Varela fell near the penalty area in the 10th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ECLESIASTES FC's protests and gave Diamantino Varela a yellow card for diving instead. The audience was convinced that Marquinhos Ramalho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Paulinho Arantes was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Marquinhos Ramalho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18thth minute of the game Reginaldo Rosa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santo FC's Thiago de Azevedo was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Oscar Godoi in the 21st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thiago de Azevedo saved Santo FC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in ECLESIASTES FC's zone, Sandro Galvão stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Paulinho Arantes came out of the goal and Sandro Galvão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 24 minutes into the game, Claudinei Albuquerque was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. ECLESIASTES FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Santo FC the free kick. The supporters of Santo FC booed when ECLESIASTES FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudinei Albuquerque didn't get a good kick on the ball. 25 minutes into the game, one of ECLESIASTES FC:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 32nd minute, Oscar Godoi ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Thiago de Azevedo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. A collision led to Santo FC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. José Vítor da Fonseca hit a great ball. Reginaldo Rosa struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Thiago de Azevedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for ECLESIASTES FC. Oscar Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago de Azevedo having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Franklin Rocha kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Santo FC's Thiago de Azevedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Santo FC from getting a goal against them. After 68 played minutes ECLESIASTES FC got a freekick which was hit by Rômulo dos Santos. After 71 played minutes ECLESIASTES FC got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Siqueira. Sandro Galvão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Paulinho Arantes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sandro Galvão struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Paulinho Arantes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santo FC. Vitinho Oliveira's late challenge caught a Santo FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vitinho Oliveira helped the player get up and apologised. Vitinho Oliveira hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute, Marquinhos Ramalho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
